couldvebeenaprincess:

look it’s fine if ur not religious omg it’s 100% ok but once u start telling people that their prayers are worthless, that God isn’t listening, that He is imaginary, that Jesus didn’t exist, that their religious texts are garbage, etc. then you’re a piece of shit shut up

But apparently its okay to condemn me to hell (which IMO does not exist), threaten my life as well as the lives of my fellow nonreligious people, force others to abide by your religion by passing it into secular law, and claim everyone elses’ religious texts are garbage.

I understand you feel we are assholes (and a lot of atheists are) but look in the mirror. Religious peoples, though many are nice people, do the same things to other religions. Christians don’t believe Muhammad was the last prophet of Allah, Hindus don’t believe in Abram’s Covenant with God. You all believe that someone else’s god(s) are imaginary, that their prayers are worthless, that their God isn’t listening, that their prophet(s) did not exist, that their religious texts are garbage.

I don’t think us agnostics and atheists are the bad guys here buddy.

I’ll be off working out and doing martial arts and taking the SATs. You lot go do your “socially popular” stuff. I’ll be fine.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot I’m much lower on the social ladder. Thanks for reminding me…

I’m fully convinced our last competition was rigged.

  1. Intentionally calling Navy commands that the AF does not know in KO
  2. Removing all AF cadets even though the Navy cadet should have been removed in KO
  3. Three teams somehow got perfect scores in Varsity CG
  4. A cadet from the hosting school won KO
  5. They ran by Navy standards even though in the SOP it said we can run by AF standards
  6. They ignored the SOP in regards to dual, allowing a blind toss when it said specifically that it was not allowed
  7. They allowed Navy cadets to do fake pushups while making AF cadets repeat pushups during Athletic Comp
  8. Apparently Parade Rest is now 40 inches. Brought what should have been a first place medal for individual Academic to a third place
  9. There’s more but I don’t remember them quite yet

Warning: I’m a liberal. Please don’t be offended, I don’t mean to offend anyone :(

Okay this is a long rant by a liberal. Not looking for an argument… but yeah I guess you can say I am because I’m arguing. You’ve been warned :P

If I may say something: of course criminals break the law. But the law can fight back. The law can make it just that much harder for the criminal to get the gun. The law can make sure that the people who do have guns are responsible, not insane, and store their guns securely and safely so that an irresponsible individual would not be able to get their hands on it- or at least make it much more difficult. And while shootings will never stop, we can at least try to dramatically reduce them.

There are shootings everyday in NYC (except that one day a couple weeks ago) and those people got guns because they were irresponsibly sold or stolen. And the law can go out, find, and stop some of these illegal operations. This isn’t saying that all will be stopped, but some will be.

The government gets its power from the people and its purpose is to serve those people. The people it is in power of should be made safer. And sure, guns give you self defense, that makes sense. But, personally, I’d rather see only one set of bullets go off than more than one set coming from multiple directions. Innocent bystanders can be shot.

I’m not saying take away everyone’s right to own a gun. Hell I don’t care if you want to go shooting in the woods. I don’t care because I know you are responsible enough to be safe with that gun and that you won’t go and shoot up a school. A majority of the population are smart enough to know that. And I don’t think they should be punished for this. But they should at least take the time to prove that they are logical and sane, take the time to prove that they won’t go and shoot up a school- or leave the gun in the open so that someone CAN go and shoot up a school. And unless you have an IQ of 10 you will still be able to get that gun.

But its those people who are insane, the people who WILL shoot up a school, or a movie theater, or a college campus, that I’m afraid of. Many of them got their guns from illegal gun shops, or the gun shops didn’t ask for proper verification. I think that we need to make sure that those gun shops ask for proper verification, or that the illegal ones that don’t care will be shut down.

In the end it’s about making the people safer. And sure the shooter already broke a shitton of laws. But the law can make it just a little harder for the shooter to get a gun. And that minute difference can save hundreds of lives.

DFTBA

The last 2 hours:

  • Almost crashed into my lights when entering the driveway
  • Found out my dad is leaving tomorrow to indonesia
  • Found out my grandma (in indonesia) isn’t feeling good
  • Found out we now own my grandma’s house (which is in Indonesia)
  • Found out my other grandma fell
  • Found out I have more homework than I thought
  • Found out my other grandma fell again and is going to the hospital soon
  • Found out my dad is leaving tonight

wow. things change quickly.

You know you have terrible parents when you’re afraid to tell them you spent $35 dollars in buying gifts for your girlfriend and brother. When you’re afraid that you could get kicked out of the house or lose all privileges to internet and phone usage.

I like to display a fun-loving, hyper personality to my friends but…

Really I’m just bottled up depression waiting to burst.

I find this silly but…

Okay this is long. I’m not looking for a fight. If you have a legitimate retort please go and tell me but in a respectful way. If I don’t reply it isn’t because I’m mad that you beat me, it’s because I’m doing research to see if you’re right/wrong/confused.

Anyways…

Why would you want to secede from the United States over a little election? Sure it shows what political point of view will be in power, but it isn’t like the country will self destruct.

Let’s be honest here. We’ve already had four years of Obama. Four more won’t destroy the country and make it irreparable. If there is anything to learn from history its that anything and everything can be fixed. It may take a long time, but it can be fixed.

Which brings me to my next point. No one can really argue against the fact the Bush started this whole mess. But quite frankly there is no way in hell that anyone, let alone Obama, can fix it in four years. He might not even be able to do it in eight.

But we’re headed on the right path right now and even though the numbers make it look like the economy hasn’t improved, the high numbers at the beginning of the presidency were still caused by Bush. We’re finally below 8% unemployment again. Auto industries are booming. We’re opening ourselves to alternate energy, something that wouldn’t happen if politicians siding with oil companies were in power. We finally have a president that believes that gay marriage is perfectly fine.

Oh yes. Gay marriage. Just because your little book says that it’s wrong (which it doesn’t even explicitly say, if you used that argument, polygamy would be the standard) doesn’t mean that it suddenly becomes the standard of the land. Yeah sure, you don’t like it. So what. Suck it up. If you don’t want to accept it, just pretend its not there. This isn’t a matter of religious liberty, its a matter of religious suppression. There is freedom of religion. But that religion cannot suppress someone else’s religion. It’s a goddamn shame that people believe that they have the right to do it. And for those saying the Bible is the “supreme law in the land”: We have a Constitution for a goddamn reason. And even though the Constitution does NOT (yes, surprise guys) state it explicitly, the first amendment states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ….” Congress will not make a law based on only one religion. The government will not establish one religion as its basis. So stop thinking this country will become a Christian nation. It never was established as one. George Washington? Deist. Thomas Jefferson? Deist. James Madison? Deist. Ben Franklin? Deist. NOT CHRISTIAN. All they do is believe that life is so complex that there has to be a god. That is IT.

Oh yes about “under God” in the pledge and on our money. Get it off. Please. What about those who believe in more than one god? The Hindus. How about the Buddhists  who technically don’t believe in a god. If we want our people to pledge to the flag freely, we should not make it seem like every one believes in one god. And what about atheists? Do they have rights? People hate it when we atheists do not say “under God”. Well quite frankly A) It wasn’t originally in the Constitution and B) We can say whatever we freaking want.

And sure there are a ton of atheists around who are just plain jerks and do bad things to our name. But when the Catholic church I go to encourages its congregation to shove their religion down my throat even if I don’t want them to, it makes me angry. If I don’t want your religion, leave me the hell alone. You tried, I applaud your effort. But no. I don’t want it. You get one chance before it just gets annoying. So please, if I say “I don’t want to convert” please leave me alone.

And that brings me back to secularism in government. What is so bad about that? Just because we don’t involve your god(s) in everything about government doesn’t mean we have no morals or don’t know what to do. We are doing what we LOGICALLY think is best for the country. Religion isn’t necessary. This planet has existed for 4 billion years before religion really came around and became important. All the organisms that came and went on this planet didn’t give a damn about your god(s). They managed quite fine. And our government can succeed just fine without it too.

Oh and science? It’s real. Not fake. Nice try. But your book is not evidence. Observation leads to theories and theories then become generally accepted as true because there is no contradicting solid proof against it. Try to prove that the Earth isn’t 4 billion years old and rather 10,000 years old. You can’t. Fossils and rocks have been around for longer. We see things in the sky that are BILLIONS OF LIGHTYEARS away. If the universe didn’t exist until 10,000 years ago, how did they get there? If they were created at the same time as the universe, we would only see things 10,000 light years away. But anyways.

Wow I got way off topic.

asd;lfkjasdhlkj

Today’s just one of those days where I wanna kill something/someone.

I hate my life.

Just made a complete embarrassment of our JROTC unit, the Honor Guard, and myself.

Woop-de-fucking-do.

Gosh I really hate my brother.

All I need is help delivering some papers to the Director of Athletics, who you conveniently see and I don’t see all day, and you just be a jerk and slam the door when I ask for your help.

All it is is just a few papers. Just put ‘em in your bag and wait til you have class with him. Then give it to him. Boom. You don’t have to worry about it anymore.

But NOOOOOO. Now I gotta go out of my way to find him. I have to hurry to classes and lunch too, while he’s in your way, you have a motherfucking class WITH him.

I can tell I’m going to hate the next school year.

Something about it… just seems awkward and wrong. I don’t know what.

I’m not even going to finish watching that video. Being from Indonesia and visiting quite often with my parents, I know for a FACT that it is dangerous to be nonreligious, that it is dangerous to even be Christian. I’m not saying that all Indonesian Muslims are bad, but many are. Take it from a kid who has been there folks. The government sucks and the people really don’t care. It’s just an excuse fro them to do whatever they want, and that includes beat people up for not agreeing with their beliefs.

My church has started a fight against atheism and science.

That’s it. I’ve lost respect for the church. Not the preachers, I like them as people, but what they are preaching. Its ridiculous. Saying that science means nothing in the eyes of God and that we in truth know nothing. We know a lot and that cannot be disproven. The church has been wrong before (read: heliocentric model) and they will be wrong again.
It’s not their business to get into the politics either. And yet when asked about it in the preaching, the preacher shrugged it off and said that it was part of their responsibility to spread Gods word into government.
I can’t stand it.
