Okay this is long. I’m not looking for a fight. If you have a legitimate retort please go and tell me but in a respectful way. If I don’t reply it isn’t because I’m mad that you beat me, it’s because I’m doing research to see if you’re right/wrong/confused.
Anyways…

Why would you want to secede from the United States over a little election? Sure it shows what political point of view will be in power, but it isn’t like the country will self destruct.
Let’s be honest here. We’ve already had four years of Obama. Four more won’t destroy the country and make it irreparable. If there is anything to learn from history its that anything and everything can be fixed. It may take a long time, but it can be fixed.
Which brings me to my next point. No one can really argue against the fact the Bush started this whole mess. But quite frankly there is no way in hell that anyone, let alone Obama, can fix it in four years. He might not even be able to do it in eight.
But we’re headed on the right path right now and even though the numbers make it look like the economy hasn’t improved, the high numbers at the beginning of the presidency were still caused by Bush. We’re finally below 8% unemployment again. Auto industries are booming. We’re opening ourselves to alternate energy, something that wouldn’t happen if politicians siding with oil companies were in power. We finally have a president that believes that gay marriage is perfectly fine.
Oh yes. Gay marriage. Just because your little book says that it’s wrong (which it doesn’t even explicitly say, if you used that argument, polygamy would be the standard) doesn’t mean that it suddenly becomes the standard of the land. Yeah sure, you don’t like it. So what. Suck it up. If you don’t want to accept it, just pretend its not there. This isn’t a matter of religious liberty, its a matter of religious suppression. There is freedom of religion. But that religion cannot suppress someone else’s religion. It’s a goddamn shame that people believe that they have the right to do it. And for those saying the Bible is the “supreme law in the land”: We have a Constitution for a goddamn reason. And even though the Constitution does NOT (yes, surprise guys) state it explicitly, the first amendment states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ….” Congress will not make a law based on only one religion. The government will not establish one religion as its basis. So stop thinking this country will become a Christian nation. It never was established as one. George Washington? Deist. Thomas Jefferson? Deist. James Madison? Deist. Ben Franklin? Deist. NOT CHRISTIAN. All they do is believe that life is so complex that there has to be a god. That is IT.
Oh yes about “under God” in the pledge and on our money. Get it off. Please. What about those who believe in more than one god? The Hindus. How about the Buddhists who technically don’t believe in a god. If we want our people to pledge to the flag freely, we should not make it seem like every one believes in one god. And what about atheists? Do they have rights? People hate it when we atheists do not say “under God”. Well quite frankly A) It wasn’t originally in the Constitution and B) We can say whatever we freaking want.
And sure there are a ton of atheists around who are just plain jerks and do bad things to our name. But when the Catholic church I go to encourages its congregation to shove their religion down my throat even if I don’t want them to, it makes me angry. If I don’t want your religion, leave me the hell alone. You tried, I applaud your effort. But no. I don’t want it. You get one chance before it just gets annoying. So please, if I say “I don’t want to convert” please leave me alone.
And that brings me back to secularism in government. What is so bad about that? Just because we don’t involve your god(s) in everything about government doesn’t mean we have no morals or don’t know what to do. We are doing what we LOGICALLY think is best for the country. Religion isn’t necessary. This planet has existed for 4 billion years before religion really came around and became important. All the organisms that came and went on this planet didn’t give a damn about your god(s). They managed quite fine. And our government can succeed just fine without it too.
Oh and science? It’s real. Not fake. Nice try. But your book is not evidence. Observation leads to theories and theories then become generally accepted as true because there is no contradicting solid proof against it. Try to prove that the Earth isn’t 4 billion years old and rather 10,000 years old. You can’t. Fossils and rocks have been around for longer. We see things in the sky that are BILLIONS OF LIGHTYEARS away. If the universe didn’t exist until 10,000 years ago, how did they get there? If they were created at the same time as the universe, we would only see things 10,000 light years away. But anyways.
Wow I got way off topic.
