Well, here’s the deal, anon. The Salvation Army is an evangelical Christian group, and they impose those beliefs on the people that they employ and the communities they serve. Here are a few examples:
They are so opposed to LGBT rights that they have lobbied multiple times for exemptions from Federal and Local anti-discrimination laws, and threatened to withdraw their services.
They refused to provide shelter to a homeless gay couple, unless they broke up and renounced their homosexuality.
They refused to provide a transgender woman with shelter that was congruent with her gender presentation, instead insisting she house with men. She chose instead to sleep on the sidewalk and died from the cold.
Speaking of gender, there was also this charming incident where one of their hostels refused to open the door for a 17-year-old victim who had just been brutally raped (or even call the police for her) because that particular hostel had a strict “men only” policy.
Children who can’t prove their immigration status are turned away.
The organization also disposes of any Harry Potter or Twilight related donations (rather than giving them to other charities), because they claim the toys are “incompatible with the charity’s Christian beliefs”.
During the Bush Administration (thanks to ‘faith-based initiatives’) they fired about 20 long-time employees (Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Gay), simply for refusing to sign the organization’s statement of Christian belief.
So, that—in a nutshell—is what’s wrong with it.
Winter is coming… and so are their buckets. Remember this when they’re bothering you for change.

hmmm…
Well, somebody understands the logic here.
seriously? we’re gonna go here? sometimes, tumblr really makes me hate everything. you dont really ever see anyone posting athiest hate on here. no one really ever hates on hindu’s. so why, WHY do you have to do this kind of shit? thank you so much, tumblr, for not having the decency to stand behind what ALMOST EVERYONE on here preaches: LOVE. FOR. EVERYONE. the fact that EVERYONE. IS. WORTH. SOMETHING. AND. DESERVES. LOVE.
i just get so damn tired of feeling like shit because of all the sarcastic hate that goes on about Christianity. Yeah, I get it. some “christians” suck ass. they’re pathetic. they’re bad. fucking. people.
but not all of us are. if i posted something mean about a hindu follower and his God, i would get SO MUCH hate for it. and yet, this shit is acceptable? it’s our own choice to follow whoever/whatever we want, and no individual deserves to be bashed on the internet (or anywhere) just because of our personal beliefs. dont believe in god? no big deal! that’s FINE!!! just don’t make me feel like shit for it, okay?
thanks a lot. it really fucking means a lot to me. good to know that all of you are just a bunch of damn fucking hypocrites. wow.
Ok, deep breath before I begin…
Allah is bullshit.
God is bullshit.
Buddah is peaceful bullshit.
Xenu is bullshit.
Ra is bullshit.
Thor is attractive bullshit, but bullshit nonetheless.
Every assorted Hindu, Egyptian, Norse, Celtic, and other God is bullshit.
Are you happy now?
Quick lesson for you poor Christians on the internet who feel oppressed and under attack: You’re not. QED. In case you haven’t noticed, we blog about other religions and philosophical standpoints, but in our society only one has following enough to pose serious threats to church/state separation. Only one is constantly around you in Western Society.
Guess what? It ain’t Hinduism.
So it’s only natural that one religion is brought up more.
And for the record, he’s right- that is the logic behind suicide bombing. Which was the whole point of this post. Stop bloody whining and use Tumblrsavior or something.
Thank you for explaining this…I think. I’m still not entirely sure what goodnightlovelyy was ranting about.
Me: So you said God was there for you when no one else was?
You: Yes
Me: How did you know that? Did you feel his presence?
You: Yes?… He is always there, even when you don’t think he is.
Me: Oh?… Is that so?… What if, you take someone with arachnophobia and tell them; “In the dark room ahead, are two large spiders.” … Where in fact… The room is completely empty and he is alone. What do you think the arachnophobe would do?
You: He would obviously panic, because he would think there is a spider in the room along with him.
Me: Correct… He is indeed alone… But because of his imagination he would think that he isn’t… He would think he’s accompanied by a spider that doesn’t exist….
You: ……
You: …….
Me: What’s the problem…?
You: I don’t think there’s a God…
I don’t know how well this would work in most situations, but I think it’s brilliant. :)

Too bad “freedom of religion” is one of the great things about our country.

Well I’d say its time to get started on waging this war.

Texas family spots image of Jesus in their moldy shower (For the story and video, click image or here; For a related post, click here http://christiannightmares.tumblr.com/post/12817427126/jesus-spotted-on-dogs-butthole-found-at)
The Lord works in mysterious ways. It is nice that he reassures us of his existence as mold. It’s a good thing she noticed it, or else I certainly wouldn’t have seen it. I’m repenting my evil atheist ways. I have never seen such clear-cut evidence of His existence. Praise the Lord and pass the TileX.

Hmmm..there is a law for marrying a rapist, but no law against homosexual marriage in the Bible…but somehow I don’t think logic would apply in this situation. O.o
