i hate when people say wikipedia isn’t reliable because anyone can change it like are u kidding me have u ever tried to edit a wikipedia article they instantly ban u for like removing a comma
ARIGHT YO STORY TIME mostly because it’s 0430 and I got less than 4 hours of sleep in the last 40some but anyways I digress.
So I had this instructor in high school right, retired USAF Major, and one day he decided to figure out the wikipedia thing once and for all. So along with a class he ran an experiment, where at the beginning of the period they edited a few articles on wikipedia to see if people really could just change it at will (mind you this was before my time, when it was really easy to edit the site’s pages).
In under an hour (actually, before the 44 minute period even ended) the articles had been changed back, with added citations. The folks who fixed the pages were apparently professionals or academics (who apparently spend a lot of time on wikipedia?).
So yea. Wikipedia is pretty good. If you have a teacher or professor who says not to use wikipedia, go to wikipedia, look at the bottom where it says references, and oh look it tells you exactly where the neatly packaged information came form.
Okay kids story time over.
